Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Labour Party leader, Andy Burnham, expressing his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Somalia and the UK.
In a message posted on X, President Hassan Sheikh described the United Kingdom as a valued partner in Somalia’s state-building and development efforts.
“Warm congratulations to the new PM of the UK & Leader of the Labour Party, Andy Burnham,” the president said.
“The UK is a valued partner in Somalia’s state-building & development journey. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between our two countries,” he added.
The president’s message underscores the importance Somalia places on its relationship with the UK, which has been a key international partner in areas including development, governance, security and efforts to strengthen state institutions.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed hope that the two countries would continue working together to advance their shared interests and deepen bilateral cooperation under the new British administration.
