A delegation led by the Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdisalan Abd Ali, has arrived in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by officials from both the Somali Embassy in Egypt and representatives of the Egyptian government, who held preliminary discussions with the visiting officials.
Joining the Deputy Prime Minister on this official visit are the Somali Minister of Public Works and Housing, Elmi Mahmoud Nur, and the Governor of Banadir Region who doubles to be the Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale “Madaale.”
Both Minister Nur and Governor Jimale are expected to hold private meetings with Egyptian officials to discuss mutual cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
Additionally, the Somali delegation will attend the 12th World Urban Forum, an international summit on urbanization, which this year is being hosted in Cairo.
The event is scheduled from November 4 to November 8, 2024 and is expected to feature discussions on sustainable urban development and other pressing global challenges.
