Roble meets Three Federal Member State leaders ahead of National Consultative Conference

Somali prime minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble and three regional state leaders have reached a consensus to work on ending of political crisis in the country.

Roble and presidents of Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Southwest states, Ahmed Kariye Qorqor, Ali Gudlaawe and Abdiaziz Hassan Lafta-gareen respectively who were Farmaajo allies have on Sunday night held a meeting in the capital Mogadishu ahead of the planned National Consultative Council forum.

The development comes amid stand off between PM Roble and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo which had impact on the progression of the country’s protracted election process.

Roble’s office in a In a statement, said he and the regional heads deliberated on issues relating to the election and the crisis in the country that has stalled the elections.
Roble’s office is preparing to chair the planned national consultative conference that deliberate on the way forward in relation to the current political stalemate.

The United States and the UK government have thrown their weight behind the national consultative forum urging the country’s leadership to de-escalate tension and exercise political restraint adding that the national consultative forum is vital in resolving the issues raised.
