Roble appoints committee to probe attempted suspension by Farmaajo and Prime Minister’s office blockade incident.

Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed a ministerial level committee led by Defence Minister to investigate into December 27 incident of blockade of the PM office and the attempted coup where the Prime Minister’s office was temporarily blocked from access.

The special committee is set to investigate his attempted suspension by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

The Commission of Inquiry into the December 27 incident where the Prime Minister’s office was temporarily blocked by security men said to be under instruction from Farmaajo comprises of – Ministers of Defense, Internal Security,The Minister of Education,The State Minister for Public Works and the State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.

On Monday, in a letter posted by Villa Somalia, Farmaajo said to have suspended Roble from his duties accusing him of inability to perform elections and having being under investigation for suspected corruption.

The Prime minister’s office hours later responded to the statement calling it called the decision a “failed attempt ” accusing Farmaajo of wanting to be treated as a special candidate for the upcoming elections and disrupting any progress towards elections so as to continue his stay in office longer.
Roble urged security forces to report to him and desist from taking political sides.

The opposition also echoed Roble’s sentiments.

The development comes a day after the cabinet meeting chaired by the PM which condemned the coup attempt incident.
