Puntland Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of East Africa University Deputy Rector

Bosaso – Puntland Police have arrested Mohamed Abshir Muse, the suspect in the killing of Khaalid Cali Khaalid, Deputy Rector of East Africa University, which occurred in Bosaso on Monday. The arrest took place early this morning in the Durduri area of the Bari region, following a coordinated effort between security forces and local traditional elders.

The Puntland Police Command issued a statement confirming the arrest and detailing the collaborative operation that led to it. “The security forces of Puntland, with assistance from the elders of the accused’s community, apprehended Mohamed Abshir Muse, who is alleged to have murdered the vice-chancellor of administration and finance at East Africa University, Khaalid Ali Khalid Awmuse, on July 29, 2024,” the statement read.

Puntland Police have indicated that Muse will face trial, ensuring that legal proceedings are conducted to address the serious charges. The arrest was the result of extensive cooperation between the Security Branch and local elders, underscoring the role of community involvement in maintaining public safety and justice.
