Puntland Forces Dismantle ISIS Strongholds and Neutralize Landmines in Bari Region

Puntland security forces have achieved a major victory in their ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS networks in the Bari region, successfully neutralizing over 10 landmines and destroying multiple militant bases in a series of coordinated operations.

The landmines, buried along key roads leading to former ISIS strongholds in Il and Cameyra, were safely detonated by Puntland’s specialized mine-clearing units. According to military officials, the explosives were strategically placed to target advancing troops and disrupt operations in the region.

“This is a critical step in ensuring the safety of our forces and civilians,” said a senior officer. “Our mission is to completely secure these areas from any threats posed by ISIS.”

The operation, part of a larger campaign to eradicate ISIS from Puntland, saw the destruction of five militant bases in the Il-Cameyra areas of the Al-Miskaat mountains. The bases, which served as key command centers for ISIS activities, were burned down by Puntland forces to prevent their reuse.

Troops also captured a vital water well previously under ISIS control, cutting off a key resource for the militants.

In a significant breakthrough, Puntland forces successfully shot down three drones operated by ISIS in the Al-Miskaat mountains. The drones, armed with explosives and used for reconnaissance, posed a considerable threat to ground operations.

“Our forces remain vigilant against all forms of threats, including technological ones. These drones were a serious concern, but our troops responded effectively,” added the officer.

With at least five strategic bases seized, Puntland’s defense forces are intensifying efforts to consolidate control over liberated areas. Mine-clearing operations continue alongside broader offensives aimed at eliminating any remaining militant presence in the region.

The Puntland government has praised the military’s success, calling the operation a decisive blow against ISIS. Officials have pledged continued support for the troops as they work to secure peace and stability across the Bari region.
