Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said his recent visits to several African countries are aimed at promoting investment opportunities in Somalia and strengthening economic cooperation with other African nations.
Speaking about his tour, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said he has been engaging African leaders on ways to enhance economic ties and attract investment to Somalia.
“I want to present the investment opportunities available in Somalia and discuss with African leaders how to strengthen economic cooperation,” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said.
The President said strengthening economic partnerships was a key focus of his meetings with African leaders, as Somalia seeks to expand investment and cooperation with other countries on the continent.
His remarks come amid speculation over his recent visits to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Egypt, which took place within a few days of each other as tensions persist between Addis Ababa and Cairo.
The President’s explanation indicates that promoting Somalia’s economic interests and investment opportunities was a central objective of the regional tour.
