North Eastern Administration alleges Somaliland military movements threaten Regional stability

The North Eastern administration has strongly condemned what it describes as military mobilization by Somaliland Region, posing a threat to the stability of the region.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Security of the North Eastern administration, it was reported that they are closely monitoring military movements and activities along the border, which they allege are preparations for an attack against the communities residing in the Region.

The statement emphasized that this planned action constitutes a significant danger to the peace and stability that has been built through substantial efforts, and it could have far-reaching implications for the entire Horn of Africa region.

The North Eastern administration warned that Somaliland will be held accountable for any consequences arising from these actions, labeling them as “aggression.” They asserted that Somaliland would bear full responsibility for any harm resulting from such military activities.

“This planned action poses a significant threat to the peace and stability we have built with great effort, and it could impact the entire Horn of Africa region,” the statement said.

Additionally, the administration called on the Federal Government of Somalia to fulfill its constitutional obligations to protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Somalia and defend its citizens. They also urged the United Nations, African Union, IGAD, Arab League, and the international community to unequivocally condemn the military movements by Somaliland.

While administration expressed its readiness to defend against any potential attacks from Somaliland, it also emphasized a preference for a peaceful resolution to achieve mutual understanding. As of now, Somaliland has not acknowledged any military mobilization in the region and has yet to respond to the administration’s accusations.
