Kenya and Ethiopia, Somalia’s neighbours have been accused of interfering in the affairs of Southwest State, according to the administration’s leader, Adan Madoobe, and Speaker of the Somali Parliament, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama.
Ethiopia was criticized for allegedly standing by as forces loyal to Laftagareen and individuals said to be members of al-Shabaab seized several areas and districts in Southwest State, despite the presence of Ethiopian troops there.
Kenya, meanwhile, was accused of hosting politicians whom Somalia’s federal government has sanctioned and accused of involvement in military interference in Southwest State.
The Federal Government of Somalia was urged to respond swiftly to the two countries, whose troops are deployed in Somalia under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
Kenya and Ethiopia had not issued official statements responding to the accusations by Southwest State officials and the Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People.
