Infrastructure revamp eases traffic woes in Mogadishu

In recent years, the bustling city of Mogadishu has witnessed a remarkable transformation in its infrastructure, particularly the reconstruction of its road network. These much-needed improvements come as a welcome respite for a city that had long grappled with traffic congestion caused by a mix of factors, including road deterioration and security-related closures.

The Banadir administration says the purpose is to usher in “a newfound sense of clarity and efficiency in the flow of traffic.” Residents, who have borne the brunt of traffic snarls for years, are now experiencing tangible relief thanks to these extensive roadworks.

Commuters have expressed their enthusiasm for the road reconstruction efforts. Commuters, especially the youth who rely on Bajaj motorcycles for their daily commute, have lauded the positive impact these improvements have had on their lives. In particular, the rehabilitation of Taleh road has drawn praises for significantly alleviating traffic woes.

The monumental task of revitalizing Mogadishu’s road infrastructure has been spearheaded by the Banadir Region administration, with Governor Yusuf Jimaale Madale   overseeing the rehabilitation of critical roads including Taleh, Sheikh Ali Sufi, Kakhda, Burura Isa Abdi, Forlance, Oodweyne, the Suuq Baad to General Daoud connection, the market route in Garsbaaley area, and Ali Mahdi Mohamed road in Abdicasis District.
