Authorities in Hargeisa have warned residents to take prior precautions as heavy rains are forecast for the city, with the possibility of flooding and other related risks.
The authorities said the expected rainfall could be heavier than usual or continue for several hours, potentially causing flash floods and disrupting movement in parts of the city.
They warned that roads could become impassable, while drainage and other areas designated to contain or channel rainwater could become overwhelmed.
The administration also cautioned that some old or vulnerable buildings could collapse due to the heavy rainfall, posing a risk to lives and property.
Residents were further urged to stay away from areas exposed to electrical hazards, and locations where people cross waterways, as such places could become dangerous during the rains.
The residents were also warned of low-lying areas likely to be affected by floods, where water could rise quickly and make it unsafe to travel or remain during periods of heavy rainfall.
Authorities called on the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidance to avoid loss of life and damage to property.
