Federal Government of Somalia Officially Takes Over Security and Administrative Centers in Hiiraan Region

The Federal Government of Somalia has officially assumed control of the security and administrative centers in the Hiiraan region. This significant development was announced by the Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Sanbaloolshe, during his visit to Beledweyne.

Sanbaloolshe revealed that armed militias previously occupying government facilities in the city had handed over the premises to the Somali security forces. He emphasized that efforts would now focus on bolstering security in Beledweyne and reconstructing the reclaimed government facilities.

“We assure the people of Beledweyne that we will safeguard the security of the city and its government facilities. Reconstruction efforts for these sites will commence immediately,” stated Sanbaloolshe.

He further stressed the importance of unity, underscoring that the city must operate under a single administration and flag, with no room for division. “Our ongoing efforts are for the benefit of the people. It is essential that the city has one administration and one flag agreed upon by all,” he added.

This move aligns with the Federal Government’s broader initiative to address conflicts and disputes in Beledweyne, aiming to restore stability and strengthen governance in the region. Recent efforts have seen notable successes in resolving long-standing disagreements among local communities.

The transfer of authority marks a critical step in the government’s mission to unify the Hiiraan region and ensure sustainable peace and development in Beledweyne.
