Federal Forces conduct mine-clearing operations on Jowhar–Airport Road

Federal Government forces in Somalia carried out a mine-search operation in the area between Jowhar City and the road leading to the city’s airport, according to multiple sources based in the Hirshabelle State administration.

The operation was conducted along the road linking Jowhar to its airport, with support from African Union personnel.

Reports indicate that the area had been hit several times by explosions, resulting in loss of life, injuries, and damage to property.

Security officials stated that the purpose of the operation is to prevent further threats particularly landmines buried along the roadside that have previously claimed the lives of people traveling on that route.

Officials emphasized that the operation aims to improve safety for communities and residents by clearing potential explosive hazards and strengthening local security. They urged the public to remain cautious while the area is being secured and to report any suspicious objects to authorities.
