Deni re-appoints Mohamud Diyano as PSF director.

President of Somalia’s Puntland region has reappointed Brigadier General Mohamud Osman Diyaano as the commander of PSF commando forces. Deni has sacked Diyaano on Nov 24, a decision which was then rejected by the commander, leading to stand-off and a deadly confrontation that led to displacements and destruction of properties in Bosaso in December last year.

The President of Puntland State of Somalia, Said Abdullahi Deni, has announced the appointment of Brigadier General Mohamed Amin Abdullahi Haji Khair and Brigadier General Mohamud Osman Abdullahi Diyano.

Deni accepted the request of the Bari Regional Elders to mediate between forces under the command of the President of Puntland State of Somalia and the Director of Special Forces PSF Mohamud Osman Diyano.

Isimada saw a solution in dismissing Diyano as PSF Director but Said Deni rejected the decision, and after days of negotiations, the Puntland Leader was persuaded to implement the Elders’ decision.

Deni’s reappointment changed the names of the troops assigned to Brigadier General Mohamed Amin Abdullahi Haji Khaire who failed to take over peacefully and Brigadier General Mohamud Osman Abdullahi Diyano.

“After assessing the security and economic situation in Bossaso, After consulting with the Vice President of Puntland State of Somalia, After consulting with the Speaker of the Puntland House of Representatives, Isims, former Presidents, Intellectuals and various Puntland Government agencies. “After considering the various efforts made during the period in Bossaso to find a solution to the conflict in the city,” said Deni.

The text goes on to say: Brigadier General Mohamed Amin Abdullahi Haji Khair has been appointed Director of the Puntland Intelligence Special Forces.
Brigadier General Mohamud Osman Abdullahi has been appointed Director of the Puntland Security Commando Forces.

“In accordance with the laws and regulations of the country, a regulation will be issued to define the responsibilities of the various forces in Puntland,” Deni said in a statement.
