Government and Local Forces Unite for Major Offensive Against Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan

Government forces and local communities are actively mobilizing against Al-Shabaab in various areas of Hiiraan region. This coordinated effort aims to reclaim control from the militant group, especially focusing on the town of Moqokori.

Senior military officials and representatives from the Federal Government are currently in the town of Maxaas, where they are holding meetings to discuss strategies for retaking Moqokori.

These discussions are said to emphasize the importance of local involvement in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

Former Hiiraan Governor and advisor to President Hassan Sheikh on the Macawiisley forces, Ali Jeyte Osmaan, has stated that they plan to return to Moqokori, from where they had previously withdrawn. His commitment reflects a strong resolve to restore stability in the region.

Additionally, Jeyte announced ongoing efforts to reorganize local defense forces. This initiative aims to strengthen their combat capabilities and expand their control over more territories in the region.

In recent days, both regional and federal officials have been present in Maxaas, engaging with local leaders and community members to assess the situation in Moqokori. The town, located near the border of Hiiraan and Middle Shabele Region was recently captured by Al-Shabaab following a violent confrontation.
