The President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Guudlaawe), who recently returned to his office for a brief period, held a virtual meeting with the United States Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Richard H. Riley.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the ongoing military operations against extremist groups in Hirshabelle, which have dealt significant blows to terrorist elements in the region.
Ambassador Richard, accompanied by Col. Norris, the head of the U.S. Mission’s operations coordination team in Somalia, expressed gratitude to President Guudlaawe for accepting the meeting despite the challenging security situation.
The U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Hirshabelle in its efforts to eradicate the remaining terrorist elements. He emphasized that the United States would continue providing military and humanitarian assistance to strengthen the stability of the region.
The U.S. government commended President Guudlaawe for his leadership and strategic efforts in combating terrorism.
“You have demonstrated unwavering support in these difficult times. We sincerely appreciate the connection you have established with us. You play a crucial role in the ongoing fight, and your dedication to freeing Hirshabelle has not gone unnoticed,” Ambassador Richard stated.
In his closing remarks, President Guudlaawe expressed deep appreciation for the support and emphasized that Hirshabelle would never forget those who stand by them in these trying times.
