Somali and Kenyan Presidents Discuss Regional Challenges and Cooperation in Kigali

In a key meeting held in Kigali, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and President William Ruto of Kenya engaged in substantive discussions on regional issues. Their talks, which took place amid the inauguration ceremonies of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, focused on “pressing challenges including counter-terrorism efforts and enhancing bilateral cooperation.” according to brief statement by Villa Somalia.

The two leaders reaffirmed the enduring partnership between Somalia and Kenya, emphasizing their commitment to “strengthening people-to-people relations and advancing regional peace, stability, and development.” They highlighted the shared values guiding their collaboration and the importance of joint efforts to address common threats and opportunities in the region.
