In anticipation of the upcoming football competition between States and the Banadir Region, Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banadir Region, Yusuf Hussein Jim’ale Madale, rallied players, coaches, and supporters in a motivational meeting. The Mayor urged the Banadir team to defend the trophy they secured last year, emphasizing the tough competition they are expected to face from other regional governments.
Yusuf Madale stressed the significance of sports in strengthening community integration and socialization, announcing plans to reintroduce various competitions to promote sports engagement. He encouraged the players.
“The trophy is in your hands you just need to defend it and should not be taken out of your hands as the competition is expected to be tough. The games will be the way they have started and will continue, football, basketball and all the other games will start in Mogadishu so that our youth will be engaged in sports” The mayor of Mogadishu Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale.
This year’s competition is anticipated to be particularly challenging as the interim administration of SSC-Khatumo, recently recognized as an interim administration by the government, will participate. The Mogadishu Stadium will open its doors in the afternoon to host the state competition against the Banadir region, excluding participation from Puntland administration. It’s worth noting that there is an entrance fee for fans eager to witness the exciting matches.
