The Federal Government of Somalia has brought 93 Somali citizens to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, who were rescued from the conflict that broke out in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, where there is a ongoing battle between the leadership of the country’s forces.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the federal government of Somalia, Abshir Omar Huruuse, together with the Minister of Transport, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Special Envoy for Children and Immigrant Rights welcomed the citizens at the Aden Adde international airport.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abshir Omar Jama Huruuse, who spoke to the media, described the process of repatriating Somali citizens in Sudan as a national responsibility.
Minister Abshir praised and thanked the Somali community in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, for the key role they played in welcoming the Somali citizens who were displaced from Sudan, praising them for their role in helping them return to their own country.
The Federal Government of Somalia is making efforts to repatriate Somali citizens, who were affected by the conflict that broke out in Sudan, as the government succeeded in repatriating more than 1,000 people, mostly students who are studying.
Somalia commends the successful air evacuation operation and extends its thanks and gratitude to all actors who participated in the coordination and evacuation process as the fighting rages.
