Ilhan Omar, a member of the United States congress , today visited Garowe, the capital of the Puntland Regional Government, where she was warmly welcomed.
The U.S. Congresswoman arrived in Puntland just weeks after securing her third term as the first Muslim woman in United States Congress. She was welcomed by the region’s President Said Deni and Vice President of Puntland Ahmed Ili Osman Karaash, the First Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Abdiazis Abdullahi Osman, Government Councils, Military Officers, State Administration, Community Organizations and various sectors.
A brief statement from the Puntland Presidency said, “The President of Puntland, Saeed Abdullahi Deni, has received at the Presidential Palace Ilhan Omar, a member of the American Congress, who has started a visit to Puntland.”
Ilhan Omar’s visit to Garowe, the capital of the Puntland Regional Government, will last a few days while the purpose of her trip has not yet been officially announced.
Reports received by Mustaqbal Media indicate that the Representative Ilhan Omar of the United States House of Representatives will visit Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, expecting to have a meeting with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In History of the United States; Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib became the first two Muslim women to join the House of Representatives in 2018.
