Djibouti is today celebrating the 44th anniversary of the country’s independence from the French colonial administration, and the occasion is marked in the capital Djibouti.
In Djibouti last night, a grand ceremony was held to celebrate the 27th of June 1977, the day of Djibouti’s independence.
Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh, various government officials and other members of the public attended the occasion marking the 27th anniversary of their liberation from French colonial rule.
Former Somali President and Chairman of the Union of presidential Candidates Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has sent a message of congratulations to the government and people of Djibouti on the 44th anniversary of Djibouti’s independence.
“I congratulate my Djiboutian brothers and sisters and their government on the 44th anniversary of Djibouti’s Independence Day on June 27, 1977,” Sharif said.
