One person has been confirmed dead in an airstrike last night in El-Ade area of Gedo region, as confirmed to Mustaqbal by area residents.
The bombing, believed to have been carried out by Kenyan warplanes, hit a family of six, a mother and five children, killing the mother instantly and injuring her five children.
The deceased mother was one Sahra Adan Warsame.
“The strike targeted civilian houses. A mother was killed and her five children were wounded by Kenyan forces,” a resident of El-Ade in the Gado region told Mustaqbal.
“Some children are nursing serious injuries,” he added.
A Witness who talked to Mustaqbal recounts that the forces target in their strikes the areas of El-Ade, Garbaharey, Likooley, Laheley, Warburay, Bur’aleen, Damaase , Wargaduudo, Qulqul shubaal, Balanbal, Muudale, Abrone, Buusaar, Qows Quran, and Dar es Salaam.
Intelligent officials say the exact casualties and the magnitude of destruction can’t be confirmed at this stage as ommunication is off the air in some areas.
Kenyan troops, part of the African Union Mission in Somalia, have continued to carry out indiscriminate airstrikes in the Juba and Gedo regions as they have killed several pastoralists in the past.
Neither the federal government of Somalia, the Jubbaland administration nor the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have commented on the airstrikes in the Gedo region of southern Somalia that has seen untold destruction of properties and livelihood.
