President Uhuru of Kenya and his Somalia Counterpart Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo are among eleven heads of states present at the inauguration of Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni following the official announcement of winning the elections conducted on 14th January 2021 to make him the president for a sixth five year term.
Uhuru Kenyatta and Mohamed Farmaajo are together in a public function for the first time after the two countries restored diplomatic relations and few days later Somalia stated it has not changed its position on the ban of Miraa flights from Kenya on its airspace and that any entry by such flights without clearance from its aviation authority will be considered an act of violation of its airspace.
Kenya, in what is largely seen as a reaction to the position banned all flights to and from Somalia starting with immediate effect.
Its not clear whether the two leaders might use the avenue to initiate an impromptu meeting to spur a talk towards the latest development.
