The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud,\u00a0along with several senior officers, has arrived in Turkey after receiving an invitation from his counterpart in Ankara.<\/p>\n
During their visit, the two sides discussed a range of key matters.<\/p>\n
According to information shared with Mustaqbal Media, General Mahmoud said the talks will focus on strengthening cooperation and collaboration between the two armies.<\/p>\n
The discussions also aim to cover military support, including backing for training programs, and coordination of joint efforts to enhance national security.<\/p>\n
Turkey has been training Somali forces particularly the Gorgor Commando units while also supporting them with expertise related to the operation of weapons and vehicles developed in Turkey. This assistance has reportedly brought significant improvements to the capabilities and overall appearance of the Somali forces.<\/p>\n
Turkey has been a key defence partner for Somalia, providing military training and support to Somali forces, including specialised units. The visit is expected to further strengthen military ties between Mogadishu and Ankara and open the way for expanded cooperation in defence and security.<\/p>\n
