The Government of Sweden has announced its commitment to participate in efforts to reform prisons in the federal Government of Somalia.<\/p>\n
Sweden\u2019s ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Hans Lundquist, held talks in Nairobi with a delegation led by Somalia\u2019s Correctional Service Commander, Major General Mohamed Sheekh Maxamuud.<\/p>\n
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the areas of security and justice.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Lundquist said the Swedish government is ready to continue its support to the Correctional Service, particularly through projects aimed at improving living conditions inside prisons.<\/p>\n

He noted that a key goal of the Somali Correctional Service is to transform prisons into rehabilitation-focused facilities, offering comprehensive services, in collaboration with international partners.<\/p>\n
Somalia and Sweden maintain close diplomatic ties, spanning security, economic, and social cooperation.<\/p>\n
