Somalia has said it expects positive outcomes from the oil exploration operations currently being carried out by Turkish drilling vessels.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Somalia\u2019s Minister of Petroleum and Mining, Dahir Shire Mohamed, said that by the end of 2026, the country is expected to see good results from the ongoing oil drilling efforts led by Turkish ships.<\/p>\n
The minister also noted that the Somali government intends to further strengthen cooperation with Turkey in the areas of mining and energy.<\/p>\n
The Turkish drilling vessel \u00c7a\u011fr\u0131 Bey arrived off the coast of Mogadishu last month before moving on to Galmudug, where it is currently conducting drilling operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cooperation between Somalia and Turkey in the oil sector has now entered its second phase, which is drilling,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n
Officials from Turkey stated that results from the drilling activities are expected to be produced within the next 6 to 9 months.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, cooperation between Somalia and Turkey spans multiple areas, including economy, the military, oil production, security, training of forces, and protecting maritime safety among others.<\/p>\n
