The State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ali Mohammed Omar alias (Ali Balcad), emphasized that Somalia is determined to take every necessary step to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
During an interview with Al Jazeera, Ali Balcad stated that the Federal Government has strengthened its cooperation with several countries that can support its efforts to counter foreign interference in the nation.<\/p>\n
“Somalia is committed to protecting its unity and territory. We will not accept Israel forcibly relocating people from Gaza. We have taken diplomatic measures, collaborating with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other countries,” remarked Ali Balcad.<\/p>\n
When asked about the management of the ports of Berbera, Bosaso, and Kismaayo by the Dubai-based DP WORLD, he asserted that Somalia will not tolerate illegal management of these ports.<\/p>\n
“The agreements made by the UAE company regarding the ports of Berbera, Bosaso, and Kismaayo are unlawful and lack validity. These agreements were made without the approval of the Federal Government of Somalia. These ports are Somali assets established in the 1960s and 1970s, and therefore, the Somali people should be represented in any agreements concerning their resources,” said the State Minister.<\/p>\n
He further stated that Somalia will refer this matter to legal experts to clarify the legal status if the UAE companies involved in these agreements for Berbera, Bosaso, and Kismaayo raise legal objections.<\/p>\n
