Somalia\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Sunday held a bilateral meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the Russia\u2013Africa Cooperation Forum. The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including economic cooperation, development, investment, and regional security.<\/p>\n
The two ministers reviewed the security situation in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa, with Egypt reiterating its strong support for Somalia\u2019s stability and ongoing state-building efforts. Officials also emphasized the need for sustained international backing for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which plays a key role in maintaining security across the country.<\/p>\n
Minister Abdisalam underscored Somalia\u2019s determination to deepen cooperation with Egypt, noting that closer collaboration would strengthen security coordination and contribute to long-term regional stability.<\/p>\n
For his part, Dr. Abdelatty said Egypt would continue to work closely with Somali security forces to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and defeating extremist groups. He reaffirmed Cairo\u2019s readiness to assist Somalia in achieving lasting security and stability.<\/p>\n
