Mogadishu, Somalia – Minister of Interior of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, has announced a large demonstration scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, in Mogadishu to express the sentiments of the Somali people regarding the controversial agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.<\/p>\n
Fiqi emphasized that Ethiopia’s actions go beyond a mere agreement, alleging a larger “intention to invade Somali land.”<\/p>\n
He raised concerns about churches and other locations in Ethiopia preparing for what he perceives as the “Ethiopian government’s aim to encroach on Somali territory.”<\/p>\n
In response to these concerns, Minister Fiqi urged the Minister of Religion to mobilize the global Somali community to protest against what he described as Ethiopia’s violation of Somali land. The minister stressed the gravity of the situation, stating that it transcends mere agreements, affecting religion, the country, and its people.<\/p>\n
“You have seen the churches of Ethiopia in plans on this. This issue is bigger than an agreement and it affects religion, country, and people. We must come together on Thursday, January 11, 2024, and express our feelings. We must not be less greedy. Abiy, who used to say that he should create a sea where they have the right to have a sea,” said Minister Fiqi.<\/p>\n
