Somalia: Six Soldiers Laid to Rest in Baladweyne Following Attack in Ceel Baraf

The city of Baladweyne, the capital of the Hiiraan region has today witnessed the burial of six soldiers from the Somali National Army who were recently killed in Ceel Baraf, a district in the Middle Shabelle region.

The funeral was attended by top officials from the Federal Government, the Hirshabelle State, traditional elders, and various members of the community. The soldiers had been kept in a morgue for the past few days as arrangements for the burial were made.

Following extensive negotiations, the burial of the soldiers was finally arranged. The Military Court has issued arrest warrants for those suspected of involvement in the attack, paving the way for their prosecution.

Traditional elders have called for calm to prevent further conflict and urged the central government and Hirshabelle State to ensure accountability for the massacre of the soldiers.
