The Puntland administration has announced a series of tough new measures to accelerate its ongoing campaign against terrorist groups, particularly ISIS, which the regional government continues to confront with full force.
These decisions were reached during a high-level security meeting chaired by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, alongside senior members of parliament and top security officials.
The session focused on finalizing the third phase of the counter-terror operation dubbed “Hillaac,” which is approaching its conclusion.
The meeting reviewed progress made during the campaign and laid out key steps to ensure the mission’s successful completion. Senior security officials and various government representatives who are closely monitoring the operation were in attendance.
President Deni received detailed updates from those leading the mission and commended the efforts of the security forces, emphasizing the importance of staying on course to achieve the operation’s goals.
As a result of the meeting, four major directives were issued. These include a crackdown on illegal weapons and unauthorized vehicles, as well as strong action against those involved in such activities.
Authorities reiterated the ban on illegal immigration and human trafficking, tasking local and regional officials with enforcing strict controls.
All maritime passenger and cargo transport was banned along coastal areas where operations are ongoing, except in special cases with official approval. Additionally, the delivery of food and supplies into these areas is prohibited unless properly authorized and clearly designated.
The session concluded with praise for the people of Puntland, both at home and abroad, for their unwavering support of the security forces. Citizens were encouraged to continue backing the mission to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
