Somalia intensifies Military operations against Al-Shabaab in Southwest

The Federal Government of Somalia has intensified military operations against Al-Shabaab in areas under the administration of Southwest State, particularly along the border between the Lower Shabelle and Bay regions.

The government has deployed additional troops to the areas where the operations are underway, with the objective of reopening key routes connecting the two strategically important regions and facilitating military movements.

Officers from the Somali National Army have also visited the frontlines, where they met with commanders and soldiers involved in the ongoing operations, according to multiple sources.

Earlier this week, Somali government forces and Al-Shabaab fighters clashed in areas between Buurhakaba and Jameeco, resulting in casualties on both sides.

The official number of people killed and injured in the fighting has not yet been officially disclosed.

The Somali government has vowed to maintain relentless military pressure on Al-Shabaab until the group is defeated, reaffirming its commitment to continuing operations aimed at eliminating the militant group and restoring security across the country.
