The Prime Minister of the federal government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre has today laid the foundation stone for an important new center for the Somali Council of Scholars, named Daarul Iftaa, in the capital city of Mogadishu.
Accompanied by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali (Abu Mansoor), Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre emphasized that this center will serve as a crucial base for addressing religious matters that need to be clarified for the Somali people.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the deep religious devotion of the Somali community and the pivotal role scholars have always played as leaders in religious matters.
Barre noted that the establishment of this center is a response to a pressing need within the community and indicated that it will serve it’s purpose.
“Daarul Iftaa is among the projects that the Somali people have greatly needed, and I hope this initiative will be successful in fostering unity among the Somali nation,” the Prime Minister stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs for initiating this project, highlighting that the center’s construction is being funded through local efforts, without any external financial assistance.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several Somali scholars, who welcomed the development of a dedicated center for their council.
