The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced the capture of two operatives affiliated with the intelligence branch of Al-Shabaab group in a statement.
The two reportedly held government positions.
According to a statement released by NISA, the detainees, Zakariya Said Abdullahi and Abdullahi Ahmed Hassan held government positions were involved with Al-Shabaab’s intelligence activities.
NISA reported that the two apprehended individuals have provided confessions regarding their involvement with the group, although further details were not disclosed.
The security agencies reported that the operation reflects ongoing efforts by Somali security forces and further promised to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s network and prevent.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency also indicated that it is committed to fighting Al-Shabaab fighters and will continue operations in the country.
The federal government forces in their various divisions have also intensified their operations in recent days to maintain the stability of the country.
