Somali and Turkish Presidents Strengthen Ties in Fight Against Al-Shabaab

In a significant meeting in Ankara, the President of the federal government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud engaged with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the ongoing tough operations against Al-Shabaab.

The leaders focused on enhancing bilateral relations, security cooperation, and regional issues in the Horn of Africa according to close confidant reports close to the meeting.

President Erdogan emphasized the strengthening partnership between Turkey and Somalia, noting that both nations would take further steps to advance their relationship.

He reiterated Turkey’s commitment to supporting the Somali people, particularly in the fight against Al-Shabaab fighters.

Highlighting the importance of unity in Somalia, Erdogan stated that achieving a formal victory in the conflict with Al-Shabaab is crucial for the country’s stability. He expressed Turkey’s continued support in efforts to restore peace and security in Somalia.
