In a swift operation, Puntland State Police have arrested four Syrian nationals suspected of stealing 940 grams of gold from Mogadishu and subsequently fleeing the scene. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdikarin Ahmed Almuhamed, Jamila Qasi Yusuf, Abdalla Abdikarim Ahmed, and Malay Abdikarim Ahmed.
The apprehension took place in Qardho early this Thursday morning, marking a successful collaboration between law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The suspects, who allegedly absconded with a substantial amount of gold, were tracked down and detained by the Puntland police.
The circumstances surrounding the gold theft remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding how the individuals managed to flee Mogadishu or what led them to Qardho. The successful arrest government sources says was a collaborative towards effectiveness of Puntland’s law enforcement efforts in tackling transnational crimes.
The arrested Syrians are set to face legal proceedings in connection with the theft, and authorities are working to determine the extent of their involvement in the alleged crime.
