President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Meets Russian Ambassador to Discuss Security,Bilateral Cooperation.

Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud welcomed the Russian Ambassador to Djibouti and Somalia, Mikhail Golovanov, at the Villa Somalia . The high-level meeting addressed a range of critical topics, including security, social, and humanitarian issues, with a focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Russia.

During the discussions, President Mohamud expressed his profound gratitude to the Government and people of Russia for their significant support in Somalia’s Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt relief process. He acknowledged Russia’s generous assistance, which has been instrumental in advancing Somalia’s economic recovery and stability.

The President also highlighted the importance of Russia’s ongoing support in Somalia’s security and counterterrorism operations. “We are thankful for Russia’s commitment to helping Somalia tackle terrorism and enhance national security,” President Mohamud stated. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Ambassador Golovanov reaffirmed Russia’s dedication to supporting Somalia in its efforts to address security challenges and improve social and humanitarian conditions.
