Political tensions escalate between Cirro administration and opposition Parties in Somaliland.

Political tensions have intensified between the administration of Somaliland leader Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Cirro” and the opposition Kulmiye and KAAH parties amid growing disputes over governance and the political direction of the region.

According to sources familiar with the matter, members of the ruling Waddani party have allegedly circulated claims suggesting that internal divisions have emerged within the opposition Kulmiye party. Similar reports have also surfaced regarding KAAH, alleging disagreements among its leadership.

Both Kulmiye and KAAH have dismissed the claims, describing them as politically motivated attempts to weaken the opposition. The parties accused the Cirro administration of spreading misinformation to divert attention from mounting political pressure, including criticism surrounding the administration’s reported engagement with Israel.

The opposition parties argue that the government is seeking to shift public attention from unresolved political issues, while maintaining that they remain united in their positions.

The developments come amid continued political debate over the timing of elections and broader governance issues. Critics have accused the Cirro administration of failing to hold elections on schedule, allegations the administration has rejected.

The political standoff has further heightened uncertainty in the region, with observers warning that continued divisions between the government and opposition could deepen the ongoing political impasse.
