Mayor of Mogadishu Launches Construction of Key Road to Enhance Connectivity

The Mayor of Banaadir Region who doubles to be the Governor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), has officially inaugurated the construction of the 26th June Road, linking Shaqaalaha Junction and Sheekh Ali Suufi in the Hodan District.

This initiative follows significant damage sustained by the area due to recent heavy rains in the city.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the Mayor announced that funding for the road project will be sourced from the Banaadir Regional Fund.

This funding is a result of administrative and financial reforms that have successfully increased the region’s revenue, enabling critical infrastructure projects to move forward.

Dr. Muungaab pledged that tax revenues collected from the capital’s residents will be directed towards implementing various development projects.

This strategy aims to ensure that public funds are effectively utilized to improve the quality of life for residents in Mogadishu.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including the Deputy Governor for Security and Politics, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), Deputy Governor for Public Works, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Jimale, and Hodan District Mayor Mr. Ali Fahle. Also present were community elders and representatives from Docol Construction Company, responsible for executing the project.

This road construction is part of a larger initiative to enhance infrastructure in Mogadishu, with the goal of improving connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.

The Mayor indicated that the local government remains committed to advancing essential services and infrastructure for its citizens.
