Maersk is increasing the cost of transporting cargo from Turkey to Somalia by adding a Peak Season Surcharge or additional charge. The company says the additional charge will be applied based on container size and the related shipping costs.
According to Maersk, the additional charge will be $200 for a 20-foot container. For 40-foot and 45-foot containers, the company will charge $300 as outlined in the statement.
Maersk also explained that the surcharge will begin on July 28, 2026. It will apply to new orders placed after that date and the company states that earlier bookings will not be affected.
When are peak season charges typically introduced?
