Kenya Police Repulse Al-Shabaab Launch Of Coordinated Attacks on Police Bases Near Kenya-Somalia Border

Heavily armed Al-Shabaab militants launched simultaneous attacks on two police bases in Fafi constituency, Garissa County, near Kenya’s border with Somalia on Saturday . The targeted sites included Alinjugur Administration Police camp and Borehole Five Administration Police camp and Jembele. Despite the coordinated offensive, Kenyan police successfully repulsed both attacks, with no reported injuries on the security forces’ side.

Garissa County MP Salah Yakub commended the police for their courageous response and urged authorities to enhance operations in the region to counteract potential terror-related threats. With many roads impassable due to heavy rains, Yakub emphasized the need for increased air patrols and the efficient delivery of goods, including essential supplies for security agencies.

This incident follows a similar attack last week on Alinjugur police post, where one officer sustained a gunshot wound during engagement with the militants. Garissa remains a hotspot for Al-Shabaab incursions from Somalia, with the group vowing in the past retaliation against the Kenyan government’s military presence in Somalia as part of the African Union Transition Mission.
