Jubbaland deploys troops to quell clan skirmishes in Lower Juba.

Officials from Jubbaland, Federal and State Parliamentarians and military officials have traveled to Dif and Garinley to find a solution to the ongoing clan clashes in the villages between those areas .

Officers led by Gen. Abbas Ibrahim Gurey, the commander of the Jubbaland Darwiish forces, who went to the villages where the clan militias were fighting, ordered the deployment of troops until a solution is reached after assessing the escalating situation.

Traditional elders have begun holding meetings to find a solution to the conflict that has sparked the ongoing fighting and the victims, and have called on displaced people to return to their homes.

Gen. Abbas Ibrahim Gurey, while addressing the local community , said he was committed to addressing the ongoing clashes between armed clan militias and apprehending those responsible for the killings of civilians.

“As the Darawish forces, we have a duty to intervene in this matter and take action against those who are taking advantage of the clashes between our brothers ,” he said.

Muqtaar Kamil, the Deputy Minister of Education of Jubbaland state who was part of the delegation said that the outcry from Diif & Garinley was a real problem that can escalate further , he said the purpose of their visit was to bring peace and reconciliation.

The delegation which include state lawmakers and other leases said the first task is to bring cease fire and then mediate between the warring parties to find a solution.
There were security agencies patrolling key areas where there’s fear of attacks even as communities prepare for a grand peace meeting.
