Several planned operations reportedly carried out with the cooperation of specially trained forces Danab forces and troops from Jubbaland’s Darawish forces took place today in areas of the Lower Jubba region, according to reports.
The forces launched a carefully controlled offensive targeting Al‑Shabaab positions in the localities of Xawaalo‑afwaax, Weelmaarow, and Lafagari. Authorities say the targeted operations inflicted heavy losses on the group.
Reports further state that the troops entered the three areas and destroyed pits and defensive hideouts that Al‑Shabaab fighters had dug there.
They also said areas containing stored resources and bases used by the group were brought under control and neutralized according to the security reports.
The locations seized by the forces were reportedly sites where Al‑Shabaab had been organizing planned attacks, with the aim of preventing the group’s continued mobilization activities particularly efforts related to Al-Shabab fighters.

This operation followed another operation carried out in Hantiwadaag in which Al‑Shabaab commander Abdisalam Moalim Abukar was reportedly killed described as the person responsible for recruiting new fighters and collecting taxes from civilians.
The commander was reportedly targeted in a specific raid conducted on July 10, 2026, while he was at a house in Hantiwadaag, where he was ultimately killed.
