Hundreds flee homes as Shabelle floods begin to hit hard

Hundreds of people have begun to flee their houses after Shabelle river burst its banks and left parts of Beledweyne town of Hiiraan region under water last night, the local officials told State Media.

Many carried their few belongings on their back braving floods as they crossed to safer areas.

Residents were seen carrying their belongings as they relocated from the raging floods that is threatening to hit harder.

The raging floods also swept belongings as some homes remain submerged in water.

Humanitarian aid agencies are said to be preparing to launch assiatance and response programe as displacement headaches hits.

The development comes as region mobilizes to liberate remaining areas under Alshabab command.
