The Galmudug Special Forces, particularly the Eagle unit, conducted a planned tough operation last night in the regions of Ceel Lahelay and Dhaban-dhulkuheys in the Galgaduud region reportedly inflicting significant casualties on the Al-Shabaab group.
Officials leading the operation confirmed to the National Media that at least five Al-Shabaab members were killed, with many others injured, including a key leader operating in the Ceelgaras area. This successful strike highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the militant group.
The National Media reported that this operation is part of continuous efforts to eliminate groups that threaten peace and the lives of civilians. The forces also seized weapons and military supplies left behind by the enemy as they fled their hiding places.
Reports from the area indicate that military movements are still ongoing in several villages surrounding Ceelgaras, with forces conducting searches and clearing operations to prevent Al-Shabaab from returning to the region.
Officials have urged the local communities to closely collaborate with security forces to ensure stability and lasting peace in Galmudug, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in security efforts.
