FAO issues Flood advisory for Juba Shabeelle Rivers.

UN’s Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in Somalia has warned of high flood risks for Beled Weyne District in Somalia. over the coming days.

The Agency said collective and coordinated humanitarian efforts will be urgently required for emergency responses and recovery from floods.

The UN’s special agency that deals with efforts to defeat hunger attributed the likelihood of such floods to unprecedented excessive rains in the upper parts of the Ethiopian highlands.

The Agency emphasised for the need for the communities living along the riverine areas of the Shabelle River to take precautions as the river flow is expected to reach its banks.

FAO however advises that there may be discrepancies between estimates and actual amount of rains received.
