The elite Danab forces, part of the Somali National Army, carried out a planned tough operations in the Harboole area of the Lower Juba region.
This operation is said to be aimed to target high-ranking officials of Al-Shabaab (AS) and individuals present in the Harboole area according to reports.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense of Somalia, the targeted tough operation resulted in casualties, including deaths and injuries among the Al-Shabaab members.
The ministry confirmed that among those killed were key figures involved in attacks and kidnappings both within the country and in neighboring nations.
The statement emphasized that the operation not only eliminated several Al-Shabaab members but also led to the seizure of weapons and military supplies. Additionally, several enemy bases were destroyed during the operation.
In recent weeks, government forces have intensified their efforts against Al-Shabaab, conducting operations across various regions of the country, particularly in Jubbaland, South West, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle.
The ongoing military campaigns is said to reflect the Somali government’s commitment to combating terrorism and restoring stability in the region. The successes achieved by the Danab forces serve as a significant step toward enhancing security in the affected areas.
