Somalia’s former Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur “Madobe,” has officially transferred his responsibilities to First Deputy Speaker Saida Yasin Haji Samatar following his election as President of South West State.
According to a statement issued by the Federal Parliament, Saida Yasin will serve as Acting Speaker until lawmakers elect a new Speaker in accordance with parliamentary procedures and constitutional requirements.
Madobe, who served as Speaker of the Lower House for the past four years, was elected President of South West State earlier this month after a vote held in Baidoa. His departure from the parliamentary leadership creates a vacancy that will be filled through an election by members of the House of the People.
The Federal Parliament thanked Madobe for his service and affirmed that parliamentary business would continue uninterrupted under the acting leadership pending the selection of a new Speaker.
