Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called for urgent international action in response to what he described as Israel’s “ongoing violations,” warning that silence and inaction “threaten the foundations of international law.”
Speaking at the emergency Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Doha, President Mohamud urged an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of prisoners, and stronger global solidarity with Palestine.
He also reaffirmed Somalia’s support for Qatar, which he said was facing “a blatant attack on its sovereignty and security.”
“Somalia stands with the people of Palestine and calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital,” Villa Somalia said in a statement.
President Hassan further emphasized that the international community must not allow double standards in the application of international law, stressing that silence in the face of Israel’s actions undermines global peace and security.
He reiterated Somalia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, calling it a moral and legal obligation.
