Kenya: County Government vehicle hijacked in Mandera town.

A vehicle belonging to the Mandera County Government’s enforcement department was hijacked today in Mandera town, near the Green View area.

According to eyewitnesses, two armed men intercepted the vehicle without firing any shots and made away with it. The driver escaped unharmed, but the attackers managed to flee with the county government car.

A resident of Mandera who spoke to Mustaqbal said “it’s true. We heard about the hijacking incident. It happened this morning”

The vehicle was described as green in color with registration number 09 CG 084A.
The Head of County Enforcement, Hussein Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to local media , saying that security agencies had launched an operation to recover the vehicle and track down the armed men behind the attack.
So far, security officials in Mandera have not released an official statement on the hijacking, although residents reported that search operations were ongoing.
The incident adds to growing concerns over security in Mandera town, which has occasionally faced instability in recent years.
